The International Pool Spa Patio Expo, sponsored by The Association of Pool & Spa Professionals, has concluded in Orlando, FL after great success. The event was held November 1-3, 2017 with pre-conference programs commencing on October 29.
Over 9,500 total pool, spa, and outdoor living professionals attended the event. The exposition spanned 133,850 sq. ft., showcasing 463 exhibiting companies.
“It was unclear how Hurricane Irma would play a role in this year’s event,” commented Tracy Garcia, CEM, Show Director. “Attendees driving in do play a significant part in overall numbers when we bring the show to areas like Orlando, where the industry is robust. While it did have some impact on registrations we were pleased with the strong representation from Florida and the high level of energy on the show floor all three days.”
One noticeable difference between the International Pool Spa Patio Expo and other North American industry shows is the geographic diversity of attendees. This year, attendees represented 49 of the 50 United States and a total of 73 countries.
The show is a true representation of the diverse segments of the pool and spa industry. Attendees include residential and commercial pool builders, pool and spa retailers/dealers, service technicians/operators, distributors, landscape designers and architects, and other outdoor living professionals.
Now a staple of the show floor, the Outdoor Living Pavilion is space dedicated for BBQ, grill, furniture, décor, and other manufacturers to display their latest product lines. A total of 56 companies exhibited within the Outdoor Living Pavilion, covering 14,500 sq. ft.
This year’s special events—the Welcome Party at Howl at the Moon on November 1, sponsored by Aristech Acrylics, and the PSP Block Party on November 2, sponsored by Real Flame and The Silver Bullet—received the highest turn-out in recent years.
The PSP Expo’s core conference program featured over 45 sessions within specialized educational tracks for builders, general business, service, commercial, and outdoor living. Pre-conference programs were offered by The Association of Pool & Spa Professionals (APSP), GENESIS®, National Swimming Pool Foundation (NSPF), American Shotcrete Association, and the National Plasterers Council.
“The quality and depth of speakers, education sessions, attendees, and exhibitors continues to grow and evolve,” says Rich Gottwald, president and CEO of APSP. “The International Pool Spa Patio Expo is the best place to connect with the leaders of the pool, spa, and hot tub industry. We are proud to be the show sponsor.”
In support for those affected by hurricanes, PSP Expo offered the hardest hit areas a complimentary conference registration. In addition, a timely panel discussion was arranged by the PSP Expo to help professionals prepare for and respond in the future to natural disasters including hurricanes, flooding, and wildfires.
Next year, the International Pool Spa Patio Expo will return to Las Vegas, NV for the first time since 2015 and will be held October 31-November 2, 2018. Pre-conference programs will begin on October 28, 2018.
“Planning for Las Vegas is already under way,” commented Tracy. “The city is a natural fit for our show because of our international base, the hotel options, and number of flights. With our strategic partners, we’re looking at some significant changes to provide even more value, education, hands-on training, and networking opportunities to our attendees.”
